At Howarth at Home, we are strong believers that support, and guidance are two of the most important factors when making a big purchasing decision, such as a kitchen. Our knowledgeable Kitchen Designers are well placed to offer all the assistance you need in a way that is friendly and helpful.
Our Meet the Designer blog series is the perfect place to learn more about the faces of the Howarth at Home brand, and this month we had a chat with Charlotte Collingwood, the lead designer at our newly opened Howarth at Home kitchen showroom in Ashton-under-Lyne.
All About the Job:
How Did You Get Started in This Career?
I was always a busy young girl who had a creative lifestyle. I would write music and perform at a variety of venues in my spare time. An opportunity arose to apply for a position in which I would receive the training I needed to become a designer. Almost three years later, here I am.
How Long Have You Been in This Career?
I have worked in the kitchen trade for almost three years.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
It’s amazing meeting new people and seeing them come into the showroom with an idea then seeing it develop from design to finished product.
I have got to say though, the best thing for me is how rewarding hearing back from customers about how happy they are with the finished product. I love seeing the photos that customers show me and sometimes the opportunity to see it in person.
Which is your favourite kitchen range, and why?
I have to say; the choice is hard.
They’re all beautiful and individual in different ways. If I had to choose one though, it would have to be the Laura Ashley Harwood. It’s just timeless.
What one piece of advice would you give someone thinking about buying a kitchen?
I have always said to anyone when they decide to design a kitchen, have a look at different styles and combinations, whether that be at a family member’s house, a showroom, magazines or on TV (anywhere really) and think about what it is you like about them
Getting to Know You:
Who or What Inspires You?
Photos speak louder than any words.
Where is your favourite place in the world?
That would have to be Mablethorpe Beach playing ball with my Border Collie, Ollie.
What was the last film or TV series you watched?
Supernatural. Gotta love Sam and Dean Winchester!
The Most Important Question:
Is it a cob, bun, bread cake or something else entirely?
